Cookie policy

What are cookies?

Cookies (or other similar trackers) are files that are deposited and stored on the hard drive of your device (computer, tablet, mobile phone or any other Internet-optimized device), through your browser software, in particular when you consult a service or content online. The “cookie” file can only be read by its sender. During its period of validity, which cannot exceed 13 months, it allows its issuer to recognize your terminal each time you access this service or digital content. The cookie does not identify you personally, but only the browser on your terminal. The cookie thus makes it possible to provide information about your navigation so that your terminal can be recognized later.

The installation of certain cookies is subject to your consent. During your visit to the Site, an information banner is displayed, indicating that by continuing your navigation on the Site, the cookies installed will be installed on your terminal. If you consent, you may nevertheless reconsider your choice at any time in accordance with the terms indicated in the paragraph “How to manage cookies” below.

How do we use cookies?

Two types of cookies can be saved in your terminal when you visit our site, for the purposes described below:

  • Audience measurement cookies are issued by us or by our third party technical service providers for the purpose of measuring the audience of the various contents and sections of our site, in order to evaluate and better organise them. These cookies also make it possible, if necessary, to detect navigation problems and consequently to improve the ergonomics of our services.

The website of Les Rencontres Economiques uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google, Inc. for these purposes. These cookies only produce anonymous statistics and volumes of visits, excluding any individual information, and are intended to allow us to know our website better and improve our services, by establishing statistics and volumes of visits and use (sections and content visited, paths, etc.). The Google Analytics terms of use state in particular that Google does not link the IP address of the person concerned with other data held by Google. The lifetime of these audience measurement cookies does not exceed 13 months.

You may refuse the use of cookies by Google Analytics by downloading and installing the Google Analytics “Opt-out” add-on in your browser software.

  • Social Network” cookies generated by social network share buttons are issued by social networks for the purpose of allowing you to share content on our site with others or to let others know your consultation or opinion about content on the site.

This is, in particular, the case of the “Share”, “Like”, “Facebook” or “Twitter” social network buttons. The social network providing such an application button may identify you by this button, even if you did not use it when you visited our site. We invite you to consult the privacy protection policies of these social networks in order to learn about the purposes of use, including advertising, of the navigation information they may collect through these application buttons. The lifetime of these “Social Networks” Cookies does not exceed 13 months. Cookies deposited by social networks are their sole responsibility.

However, you may choose at any time to disable some or all of the audience measurement cookies or social network tracking cookies. You can delete all cookies already stored on your computer. If you decide to delete your cookies, be aware that any preferences you may have set will be lost. In addition, if you block all cookies, many websites (including ours) will no longer function properly.

  • Refusing a cookie through your browser software
