2008 Olympic champion and captain of the French handball team, Olivier Girault is also world and European champion. 

He discovered handball in secondary school at the Union nationale du sport scolaire, in Seine et Marne, and describes himself as a true “child of the UNSS”.

After his sporting career, he went on to complete a Global Executive MBA. He decided to make a clear commitment to French sport and for French sport. 

He became a sports leader, notably as President of the professional Handball league in 2018, then since December 2021, National Director of the Union nationale du sport scolaire (UNSS), France's second-largest sports federation with over 1,170,000 members, and 9,500 sports associations. 

He is also Chairman of the Sports Committee of the International School Sports Federation (ISF), and a director of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) and the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF). 

Passionate about sport, governance and human sociology, he is also a key contact for major national media on sports and social issues.
