Bio

Rony Karam is a founding member and president of the Lebanese Foundation for Renewable Energy (LFRE). LFRE is an NGO that aims to promote a green revolution to solve the current energy crisis in Lebanon. This rapid transition to clean energy will serve as the foundation for a new economic model based on sustainable, productive and fairer development through cheap, clean and local energy. To this end, LFRE's energy plan aims at promoting a leap forward for a massive and rapid adoption of green energy in all regions of the country. Beyond solar, wind and hydro power generation, this vision also includes the implementation of a modern and smart grid, green electricity storage and the massive integration of electric cars.

At the same time, Rony is CEO of the KDP Group, which specializes in real estate acquisitions and development in the US and Canada. Prior to that, Rony was CEO of United Contractors & Engineers and UMD, a builder and developer of commercial and residential projects (housing, resorts, universities, offices, shopping malls, hotels) in Lebanon.

Mr. Karam holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in the United States, a Diplôme des Grandes Ecoles from HEC (Paris) and a Certificat d'Etude Politiques from Sciences Po (Paris).
