Responding to the ecological emergency

Session 37 Amphi 1 July 10, 2022 10:15 - 11:15

Overview

The ecological issue has taken on an unprecedented scale in terms of the intensity of the challenges it represents and the scope of the subjects it covers. Because of its urgency and cross-cutting nature, priority must now be given to action for the ecological transition. Initially focused on climate change, it now encompasses the protection of land, forests, water, oceans and biodiversity.

The ecological transition is not just a matter of public action. All aspects of our lifestyles are affected: the way we produce, consume, feed ourselves, travel, design the places we live in, our leisure activities… We need to put the impact of these actions on our environment back at the centre of our concerns, as evidenced by the pollution of soil, freshwater and sea water. However, good intentions will not be enough to act on the challenge we face, and specific measures and adequate tools will have to be implemented to respond to this ecological emergency.
