Defining priority infrastructures

Session 32 Amphi 3 - Course E July 3, 2021 17:35 - 18:40

Overview

France is launching an ambitious Plan for tomorrow’ s infrastructure. Transport will see the development of bikes, collective transport, railways (including freight), waterways ; a network of charging stations for electric cars. Infrastructure also includes energy distribution and telecommunication. In order to define what should be the priority infrastructure, we first need to think about those priorities. Global warming require to decrease our reliance on cars and trucks. The covid-19 has made us rethink our priorities too : if rush hours can be dampened with some remote working, should we increase the capacity of our highways ? But what if urban households want to get space and nature and move in periurban areas? Most importantly, infrastructure use is different between rich and poor, executives and employees: how can we make sure that poor households access infrastructure?
