How to Manage a Crowded and Exhausted World ?

Session 13

Despite the demographic transition now under way in most countries, the growth in the world population remains a disturbing reality. Previously, fears connected with the rising population were focused on food insecurity, resource depletion and increasing poverty, which are all likely to generate conflict in the regions concerned. Today, these issues are swelled by new concerns over the deterioration of the environment and the acceleration of immigration from countries with strong demographic growth. The goal of this panel is to assess the effects of global population growth, understand how it shapes international trends and pinpoint the risks and opportunities.
