What Will Life Be Like?

Session 9

In the future, humanity will live in a drastically different environment to that of today, with smart cities, connected homes, self-driving cars, artificial intelligence and more. All these changes will lead to a series of societal shifts and comprehensively alter our relationship to the world and other people. The aim of this forward-looking session is to imagine the society in which our children will grow up. It will be an opportunity to examine considerations that will be essential for decision-making.

How will we live? What impacts will new technologies have on lifestyles, social interactions, political systems, health care, consumption and productivity? What will the main features of tomorrow’s cities be and what urban policies will need to be implemented?  How will urban dwellers get from place to place?  Are we all future energy producers? How will we meet the growing food needs of our global population? What changes will agriculture and rural landscapes undergo?
