How to Align Trainings with Job Offers?

Session 10

Recent technological developments, and those expected in the near future, lead to profound changes in production structures. They require more capital and skill, and less labour. They bring about a decline in the demand for unskilled or lowskilled labour. This is not a recent phenomenon, but the escalation from innovation to learning, which has already been studied by Tinbergen, is fuelled by the speed at which new information technologies emerge. More than ever, the jobs beyond tomorrow will not be the same as the jobs of tomorrow. Training has become crucial to prevent entire populations from being forever cast aside in global growth. How can training be adapted to these challenges? How should training time and work time be structured throughout life? What are recent and upcoming innovations in initial and ongoing training?
