Bio


A graduate of Sciences Po Paris and a former student of the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), Philippe Wahl also holds a postgraduate degree (DEA) in Economics. He began his career as an auditor and then Maître des requêtes at the French Council of State (Conseil d’État). In 1986, he became an advisor to the Chairman of the French Securities and Exchange Commission (Commission des Opérations de Bourse), and in 1989 he joined the Prime Minister’s office as a technical advisor for economic and financial affairs. In 1991, he became advisor to the Chairman of Compagnie Bancaire, and in 1994, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer. In 1997, he became Head of Specialized Financial Services at Paribas. In 1999, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse Nationale des Caisses d’Épargne. In this role, he served on the Supervisory Boards of CDC Ixis and CNP Assurances. In 2005, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Havas Group, then Vice-Chairman of the Bolloré Group in 2006. In 2007, he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland as CEO for France, and in 2008, he became CEO for France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. In January 2011, he was appointed Chairman of the Management Board of La Banque Postale and Deputy CEO of the La Poste Group. In September 2013, he became Chairman and CEO of the La Poste Group, a position to which he was reappointed in January 2016 and again in March 2020. On June 25, 2025, Philippe Wahl was appointed Chairman of the Board meetings of the La Poste Group, pending the appointment of a new Chairman and CEO
