Mads Christensen is the Executive Director of Greenpeace International and a lifelong environmental advocate.
He joined as a youth volunteer in 1992 and has since worked across the global network, including 15 years as Executive Director of Greenpeace Nordic. He has helped secure the release of the Arctic 30, contributed to the UN Ocean Treaty, and worked with Indigenous and frontline communities from the Amazon to Greenland.
Three decades in, he remains driven by non-violence, direct action, and Greenpeace’s uncompromising independence from political or corporate influence. His vision, rooted in patience, persistence, and hope, is of a green future where power shifts from private profit to the common good and environmental justice.
