Laurent MAURIAC

Bio

A journalist and media entrepreneur, Laurent Mauriac first worked for the daily newspaper Libération for 12 years. He headed the economics department before becoming the paper's New York correspondent. In 2007, he co-founded the news website Rue89, where he was Managing Director until 2014. He then co-founded Brief.me, a daily digital publication offering subscribers a summary and explanation of current events, to be complemented in 2019 by a weekly on the economy, then in 2022 on science. Laurent Mauriac is also co-president of the Syndicat de la presse indépendante d'information en ligne (Spiil), which brings together over 200 independent media, most of them digital. He teaches media economics at the Centre de formation des journalistes in Paris.
