Bio
Joaquim Miranda Sarmento holds a PhD in Finance from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and is a tenured Assistant Professor of Finance at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon.
From 2012 to 2016, he served as economic adviser to the President of the Portuguese Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva. He also worked for ten years at the Ministry of Finance and served as a consultant to the Budgetary Technical Support Unit.
Between 2022 and 2024, he was a Member of Parliament and Chairman of the PSD parliamentary group. He subsequently served as Minister of State and Finance in the previous government.
