Bio
Gabriela Smarrelli is a Research Fellow at the Center for Global Development’s Global Education and Child Well-Being programme.
Her primary research fields include development economics, the economics of education, and public service delivery in low- and middle-income countries.
Her current work investigates barriers to human capital formation, with a particular focus on school violence and restrictive social norms, as well as broader questions related to child well-being.
Gabriela holds a PhD from the University of Oxford and has more than 10 years of experience designing and evaluating social policies. She has research and policy experience across several countries, including Peru, India, Bangladesh, Malawi, and Tanzania.
