Bio
Benoît Cœuré has been President of the French Competition Authority since 2022 and Chair of the OECD Competition Committee since 2025. Previously, he led the Innovation Hub at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) from 2019 to 2022 and served as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) from 2012 to 2018.
Before joining the ECB, he held various positions within the French Treasury. From 2007 to 2009, he was Head of the Multilateral Affairs and Development Department, Co-Chair of the Paris Club, and Finance Deputy (Sherpa) for the G8 and G20 on behalf of France. From 2009 to 2011, he served as Deputy Director-General and Chief Economist of the French Treasury.
Mr. Cœuré is a graduate of École Polytechnique and the École nationale de la statistique et de l’administration économique (ENSAE). He also holds a degree in Japanese.
He is the author of numerous articles and books on economic policy, the international monetary system, and the economics of European integration.
