Achieving Carbon Neutrality

Overview
Achieving carbon neutrality is a must, but the road to getting there is full of pitfalls. What strategies can be adopted to combine energy transition and economic wealth? We need to avoid a sudden shock that would weaken entire industries, destroy many jobs and exacerbate social and territorial inequalities.
Public policies play a key role, through carbon pricing, regulation and incentives for low-carbon innovation. Systemic change also requires a commitment from the private sector, a change in behavior and support for the most vulnerable agents and countries, for whom the transition will be particularly costly even though they are hardly responsible for global warming.
