Rebalancing the energy mix

Debate 11 Amphi 3 July 9, 2022 18:30 - 19:20

Overview

Decarbonising the European economy by 2050… the task is immense, but the objective is imperative and will be structuring for our societies!
More than ever, developments will have to be thought out on the scale of Europe, which is an interconnected continent, even if the solutions may vary from one territory to another, depending on geographical realities and the choices made by States.
While there is consensus on certain directions – the need for energy efficiency, increased electrification, the need for decarbonised gases for uses that are difficult to electrify – the respective roles of the various energies will have to be clarified, in a context where the relative costs of energy are evolving very quickly and where technological breakthroughs are possible. The challenge will ultimately be to ensure that decarbonisation guarantees security of supply at all times and has the least possible impact on the costs of companies and the purchasing power of households.
