Sports as a Real Tool for Social Cohesion
Overview
Sport as a unifying vector reached its peak with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Yet, its most valuable impact is played out on a daily basis, with audiences far removed from social or professional life: single mothers, people in precarious and/or disabled situations, inhabitants of QPV..
.
As a result, initiatives to promote inclusion are multiplying. The European program "Terrain d'avenir", offered activities to refugees in Île-de-France until 2024 and now extends with the training "Welcoming an exiled public in my sports club," which equips clubs for greater social inclusion.
These inclusive approaches remain essential. Sport, a mirror of society, also reflects persistent social dynamics, or even accentuates them: high costs, lack of diversity, gender stereotypes... Therefore, how can we rethink these practices in order to build a fairer and more inclusive model?
