Envisioning a Responsible and Sovereign World
Overview
As soon as we turn to news beyond our national horizon, wars seem endless. Since the origins of humanity, conflict has appeared as a constant, giving the impression of a world locked in perpetual violence, where clashes are endlessly renewed.
Yet after the Second World War, Western powers proclaimed “never again.” This ideal has not prevented the persistence of conflicts, whether interstate, geopolitical, or civil. This contradiction invites us to move beyond observation and question our own role.
The issue may not only be whether a world without war is possible, but also recognizing our share of responsibility in perpetuating, or transforming, this state of the world.
As a result, imagining peace has become difficult, as our societies remain structured around logics of confrontation. Every day, directly or indirectly, we fund a war economy: a conflict-driven mindset shapes our daily lives. What if, instead, we made the effort to imagine peace?
