Agribusiness: Is Food Security Achievable?

Session 28 Amphi 3 July 3, 2026 16:00 - 17:00

Overview

In France, food insecurity increased in 2022, particularly due to rising food prices. Nutritional inequalities also persist, linked to household income and place of residence.

Chronic nutrition-related diseases are a major public health issue: cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, and malnutrition account for 80% of premature deaths from non-communicable diseases. Our diet also exposes us to harmful substances such as PFAS, endocrine disruptors, and certain ingredients used in processed foods. Food packaging, especially plastics, also generates pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

How can we develop a food system that relies as little as possible on synthetic inputs and steer consumption towards healthier and more diversified diets, while ensuring fair remuneration across the entire value chain?
