I am an associative activist, specialist in social issues, policies to fight against poverty and issues related to the reception of migrants, housing and sustainable development. Former President of Secours Catholique-Caritas France since June 2014, I have long been involved with ATD-Fourth World working with its founder, Father Joseph Wresinski. My community involvement has led me to political life: Deputy Mayor of Bordeaux, I was also president of the French Forum for Urban Security and co-president of the National Council of Cities.

My credo? Every man is wealth.

VOLENTEERING

Véronique Fayet got involved very early in community life with the most vulnerable. A student, she is a volunteer in associations practicing literacy with migrant workers in Nancy. In 1979, she joined ATD Quart Monde Gironde as a training and information delegate. Long involved in this movement, she met its founder, Father Joseph Wresinski, and President Geneviève de Gaulle. It is her associative commitment that leads her to political life where she will continue to work for the social development of all.

CITY HALL OF BORDEAUX

1989-2014

Her political career began in 1989 as a municipal councilor for Bordeaux in Jacques Chaban-Delmas' team. From 1995, she was deputy mayor, Alain Juppé, in charge of social action and the fight against exclusion, then in 2001, in charge of social development and city policy. In 2004, she was elected regional councilor for the opposition Aquitaine. In 2008, reelected, she was in charge of Solidarity, Health and Seniors. She was elected Vice-President of the Bordeaux Urban Community, in charge of Housing Policy from 2001 to 2014.

NATIONAL COMMITMENT

Véronique Fayet was a member of the national executive board of the MoDem, deputy mayor of Bordeaux, in charge of solidarity, health and seniors policies, vice-president of the CUB in charge of housing and habitat, regional councilor of Aquitaine responsible for social development and city policy and vice-president of the National Union of Communal Social Action Centers (UNCCAS). She was president of the French Forum for Urban Security from 1995 to 1998 and co-president of the National Council of Cities from 2002 to 2006.

Véronique Fayet is a knight of the National Order of Merit and an officer of the Legion of Honor.

In March 2019, Véronique Fayet published Révolution Fraternelle, the cry of the poor, published by Indigènes.
