How the crisis is redrawing the world map

Debate 1 Amphi 1 July 2, 2021 18:30 - 19:30

Overview

The Covid crisis has revealed the strengths and weaknesses of capitalism in different countries around the world. In the United States, the crisis highlighted the weakness of the social model, with an inability to protect households from this shock. In Europe, the crisis has shown the extent of deindustrialisation and the weakness of the innovation model. How can the European Union get back into the technological race and move up the value chain? How can we move towards a Europe of projects? How can we rethink the Maastricht criteria so that growth investments are not counted in the same way as other public spending? How can we set up a European equivalent of the American DARPA and BARDA, and how? All these questions, emphasized by the Covid, will enable us to better understand the map of tomorrow’s world.
