Biographie


Ana developed an international career of 25 years spanning academia, consultancy, management and public policy. Specialized in Internationalization, Innovation and Competitiveness, she is a Professor of Economics at FEP-University of Porto, President of the Investment Committee of the Social Innovation Fund, President of the General Council of the Fund of Funds for Internationalization (Portugal), and also a consultant, entrepreneur and manager.

She served in the Portuguese Government as State Secretary for Industry, leading policies directed to all industrial sectors (industry 4.0), digitalization, startups and the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Held managerial positions in circa two dozens of organizations. Has been a consultant to international institutions (OECD, UNCTAD, European Commission, inter alia) and national and regional governments all over the world. She founded several companies. She has been CEO of InvestPorto, Vice-President of the Regional Authority of Portugal’s North Region, President of the Managing Authority of the Atlantic Area Transnational Program of the EU, Pro-Vice Chancellor of U.Porto and was involved in setting up the Portuguese Investment Agency. Visiting Professor or Research Fellow in several US/European universities (e.g. Columbia, Uppsala, Glasgow, etc), and President and currently Fellow of the European International Business Academy.

Regular speaker at top level conferences, editor of scientific journals and author of numerous scientific publications, member of several international think tanks. Won several awards for scientific merit and career recognition. She holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Economics (University of Reading, UK) and a BSc in Management (U.Porto).
