After graduating from Sciences Po Paris in 1981 and the Centre de formation des journalistes de Paris in 1984, Ruth Elkrief began her career in French television with the TF1 Group. Three years after joining the TF1 Group, Ruth Elkrief became a correspondent in Washington, covering the Gulf War. On her return to Paris, she was appointed head of TF1's political service, presenting the 11pm weekend news from 1991 to 1992. In 1992, Ruth Elkrief came to the attention of the French public with her exclusive interview with François Mitterrand alongside Arlette Chabot at the Elysée Palace. In 1994, she took part in the launch of France's first news channel, an unprecedented venture in the audiovisual landscape, of which she was one of the main faces along with David Pujadas. Together, they present Le Grand Journal, a daily program covering major news events. In September 1999, she launched a new program on TF1. Broadcast every Sunday, 19H dimanche features reports and an interview with a leading personality. In 2001, she decided to try her hand at a new form of political journalism: the radio morning show interview. After several years at the head of RTL's Interview politique, Ruth Elkrief helped launch BFM TV. In May 2021, after 16 years as the face of BFM TV news, Ruth Elkrief will be making her return to the TF1 Group. With the regional elections and the 2022 presidential election just a few months away, Ruth Elkrief joins the ranks of the TF1 Group's top political names on its news channel. She is currently an editorialist at LCI and Radio Classique.
