Technological Progress and Employment: Should We Fear I.A ?
Overview
At a time when digital innovations are accelerating, the transformations of work related to artificial intelligence raise both hopes and concerns. While technological progress has historically been a driver of job creation and productivity gains, the rise of systems capable of automating complex tasks raises questions about the nature, pace, and scale of ongoing changes.
Beyond the quantitative effects on employment, AI redefines skills, transforms organizations, and can exacerbate inequalities among workers. It also raises the question of the adaptation of education systems and the capacity of public policies to support these transitions. Should we fear a massive substitution or anticipate a restructuring of professions? So many issues that invite to rethink the frameworks of analysis and action in order to reconcile innovation, competitiveness and social cohesion.
