Bio
Mbewe Kalikeka is a seasoned Economist with close to 10 years of professional experience in economic policy research, public finance, and macroeconomic analysis. He currently serves as Deputy Director of Research – Monetary, Fiscal, Financial and External Sector Fellow at the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR), where he leads and contributes to research and policy analysis in budgeting, public expenditure, domestic revenue mobilisation, public debt management, macroeconomic performance, poverty analysis, and financial sector development. Throughout his career, Mbewe has developed extensive professional networks across government institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, and the private sector. He has worked closely with the Ministry of Finance and National Planning and the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, as well as cooperating partners including the World Bank, various United Nations agencies, and the International Monetary Fund. In addition to his institutional role, he works as a freelance consultant specialising in public finance, taxation policy, human development, poverty reduction, debt sustainability, statistical surveys, and impact evaluations.
Prior to joining ZIPAR, Mbewe worked at Investrust Bank in Livingstone between 2014 and 2017, where he served in various operational roles, including Bank Teller, ATM Custodian, and Vault Custodian. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Lusaka (2018) and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Namibia (2014).
