Bio
Anne Savinel-Barras is retired from the French public hospital service, where she worked as head of hospital care services.
Originally from the Hauts-de-France region, she joined Amnesty International France (AIF) in 1990. She was active in the Lens–Liévin local group and later served as a regional coordinator and member of the National Council. She has been particularly involved in supporting migrants, working closely with associations in her region.
She has been a member of the AIF Board of Directors since 2022 and has served as President since her re-election in June 2024.
Her commitment focuses on combating human rights violations and supporting the full scope of Amnesty International’s work, with a particular emphasis on the rights and dignity of exiled people, the fight against all forms of discrimination, and the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, especially in relation to issues affecting the Near and Middle East.
Actively engaged in the movement at all levels, she works to promote a more collegial and collaborative way of functioning, with the aim of strengthening the collective effectiveness of all AIF actors in addressing the serious challenges of our time.
