Bio
In 2007, Hélène Rey became Professor of Economics at London Business School. She has received numerous distinctions, including the Order of the British Empire for her services to economics. She is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Econometric Society, and the European Economic Association, as well as a foreign member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a corresponding member of the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques.
Before that, she was Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University from 2000 to 2007. She also served as Professor at London School of Economics from 1997 to 2000.
She has held various positions of responsibility in economic and financial policymaking as a member of the Conseil d’Analyse Économique, the Commission Économique de la Nation, and the supervisory board of the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution. She is Vice-President of the CEPR, a member of the Haut Conseil de Stabilité Financière, and a member of the External Advisory Board to the Managing Director of the IMF.
She holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She also earned an engineering degree in economic systems from Stanford University and ENSAE.
Her recent publications include work on U.S. monetary policy, the Global Financial Cycle, and analyses of the international monetary and financial system. She is a member of the Group of Thirty and the Bellagio Group. She was elected President of the European Economic Association.
