Juhana Vartiainen is a Member of the Finnish Parliament and an economist.
He wrote his Doctorate in Economics in 1992. He has done a career as an economist in Sweden, where he worked as a researcher, and eventually as the Director of Research of the National Institute of Economic Research, Sweden (Konjunkturinstitutet). In 2011 he returned to Finland to assume the position of Director of VATT Institute of Economic Research, which he held until being elected to the Parliament in 2015.
He was re-elected in 2019 and has since been the Chairman of the Commerce Committee of the Parliament. His main fields of expertise are macroeconomics and employment policy.
