Bio
Pierre-Olivier Costa has been the President of the Mucem (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) since 2022. He is developing a new vision for this national museum, centered on accessibility for underserved audiences, strong local engagement, the promotion of the museum’s collections, and the revitalization of its various heritage sites. After contributing to the launch of Le Journal des Arts in 1994, Pierre-Olivier Costa spent a significant part of his professional career at the Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RMN), where he held various positions across several departments — including head of communications, the photographic agency, and the acquisitions department. He later joined the Centre Pompidou, where he served as Chief of Staff from 2007 to 2011. He then worked at the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC) for eight months as advisor to the president. After serving in the Media Development Directorate of the French government, he moved to the City of Paris, where from 2012 to 2017 he worked alongside former mayor Bertrand Delanoë (Socialist Party) as Chief of Staff and later Deputy Director in charge of information and communications. During Emmanuel Macron's presidential campaign, he was appointed Chief of Staff and subsequently served at the Élysée Palace as Special Advisor to the President and Chief of Staff to Brigitte Macron from 2017 to 2022.
