Before his election as LO President, Lindholm was President of the Swedish Building Workers’ Union (Byggnads) from 2012 to 2024. Lindholm grew up in Södertälje, Stockholm County, where he began his career as a carpenter and became active in the local trade union division, "Byggettan”. Lindholm, as the head of the construction workers’ union, received overwhelming support from LO members as he was elected President of LO. He is recognized for emphasizing the importance of strong leadership and unity within the trade union and also for his commitment to issues such as economic policy, equality, anti-racism, and international trade union cooperation.
