Which housing policy?
Housing policy, particularly in high-density areas in France, Europe and throughout the world, is faced with several contradictory injunctions: to ensure quality housing that respects environmental standards, while being affordable; to combat global warming by limiting urban sprawl, even though urban density tends to make living conditions particularly difficult in large metropolitan areas. In addition, there are the problems of access to property, the increase in the price of land, and the state of a particularly tight rental market due to the low number of available properties and buildings. Some measures have been put in place, such as rent control, but housing policies remain insufficient for the time being. But is this enough? How can supply-side policies be implemented? Should we continue to encourage access to property? What housing policy can be put in place to ensure decent housing for all?
