Bio

Laura Sarabia Torres represents a new generation of Colombian leadership — courageous, well-prepared, and deeply committed to public service. On 29 September 2025, she was formally appointed as Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the Government of the United Kingdom, following a distinguished trajectory in which she made history as the youngest Minister of Foreign Affairs in the world.

Born in Bogotá, Ambassador Sarabia is an international relations specialist, political strategist, and holds a Master’s degree in Communication. She pursued her studies at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, the Universidad Externado de Colombia, and the Escuela Superior de Guerra, later complementing her academic background with a specialisation in Political Marketing and Campaign Strategy.

Throughout her public career, Ambassador Sarabia has served in a range of high-level positions, including Legislative and Communications Adviser to the Congress of Colombia, Political Adviser to the Party of the U, Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, Director-General of the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic (DAPRE), and Director of Social Prosperity. In each of these roles, she has demonstrated leadership grounded in vision, discipline, and empathy.

She was instrumental in the development of the Gran Acuerdo Nacional (National Grand Accord), an ambitious initiative aimed at fostering dialogue, consensus, and reconciliation amidst political polarisation. She also led Misión La Guajira, a landmark intersectoral effort which, in partnership with the private sector, delivered access to safe water, energy, connectivity, and education to more than ninety indigenous communities that had long been marginalised.

Today, from London, Ambassador Sarabia represents a Colombia that is diverse, resilient, and forward-thinking. Her work seeks not only to strengthen the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between Colombia and the United Kingdom, but also to project the image of a nation that aspires to lead through ideas, innovation, and social responsibility.
