Oxford-trained economist; more than two decades as a senior policy-maker in international economics and finance in the US and UK;
Has held senior executive positions in the US government (White House and Treasury Department), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Bank of England. Under President Barack Obama, Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economics, White House; President's personal representative, or sherpa, to global leaders’ summits, including the G-7/8 and the G-20. During 1997-2001, Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Monetary and Financial, International Affairs.
