President - Economic and Social Council, Spain

Marcos Peña is the President of the Economic and Social Council of Spain, advisory body of the goverment on socioeconomic and labour matters, made up by the social agents and the representatives of the organized civil society. He has occupied this position since 2006, having previously been a member of this Council as an Expert on socioeconomic issues. He has got a degree in Law and he is Labour and Social Security Inspector from 1972. His professional experience has been developed on labour relations and social policies, having occupied the position of Secretary General for Health in the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs and Secretary General for the Ministry of Labour. As expert on labour relations he has carried out a wide activity as mediator in labour disputes. He is also author of diverse publications and a regular contributor to the press.
