Bio


A graduate of CPE Lyon, Véronique Torner began her entrepreneurial career in 1998 with the co-founding of Black Orange, an e-commerce startup that was acquired by Éditions Atlas in 2000.

She then took on the role of Managing Director of Masterline Net Solutions, followed by five years at the helm of Masterline alongside its founder, Philippe Montargès. Masterline was acquired by Alti at the end of 2005.

In 2006, Véronique Torner co-founded Alter Way, a service company specializing in Open Source technologies.
At the end of 2021, Alter Way joined the Smile Group, where Véronique Torner became a member of the group’s executive committee.

From 2009 to 2022, she served as President of the Open CIO Summit, the first Open Source summit “by CIOs, for CIOs.”

Since 2013, Véronique Torner has been a member of the board of directors of Numeum (formerly Syntec Numérique), and since 2019, a member of the executive committee in charge of the strategic Responsible Digital program and the Planet Tech’Care initiative.

In June 2023, she was elected the first woman to serve as President of Numeum.


She received the "Woman in Digital" award from La Tribune Women's Awards in 2015 and served as Chair of the Program Committee of the 2015 Paris Open Source Summit, resulting from the merger of Open World Forum and Solution Linux.

By decree of the President of the French Republic on February 8, 2016, Véronique Torner was appointed to the French National Digital Council (CNNum) for a two-year term.

From 2016 to 2018, she was also a member of the advisory board of the Institut Friedland.
From 2016 to 2019, she served on the board of directors of Monde Nouveau, the endowment fund of CPE Lyon.

In January 2018, Véronique Torner was appointed Honorary Member and Member of the Scientific Council of the Société Informatique de France (SIF), a space for reflection and dialogue on key issues in computer science, and for action based on the work of the broader scientific community.

Since March 2018, she has been a mentor at the Institut du Mentorat Entrepreneurial, a program dedicated to SMEs and SMIs, offering tailored support and peer experience-sharing.

On October 17, 2018, Véronique Torner was awarded the insignia of the Ordre national du Mérite by Mr. Mounir Mahjoubi, Secretary of State for Digital Affairs.
