Professor Seydi Ababacar Dieng, a holder of a PhD in Economic Sciences and a specialist in econometrics, is a teacher-researcher at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of UCAD. He is the Director of the Laboratory of Economic and Monetary Research (LAREM), Head of the Doctoral Training in 'Monetary and Financial Economics' (with nearly forty supervised and defended theses, including eight teacher-researchers), Head of the 'Economic Sciences' program, and Curator for the theses of the Doctoral School of Legal, Political, Economic and Management Sciences (ED-JPEG) of UCAD. He served as Senegal's Representative on the Specialized Technical Committee (CTS) on Economy-Management of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) from 2018 to 2023. He was also a member of the Commission for the Evaluation and Monitoring of Public Policies and Programs (CESPPP) – Office of the President of the Republic of Senegal. He teaches in universities and prestigious schools in Lyon: Lyon 1, Lyon 2 et Lyon 3, Ecole Centrale Lyon, ENTPE, from 1997 to 2010. Visiting professor at the University of Rennes 2 in 2019. Invited researcher at the University of Manchester, the University of Luxembourg, the University of Lyon 2, the University of Caen, the University of Rennes 2, and AgroParisTech (Paris). He teaches Statistics, Political Economy, International Trade, History of Economic Thought, and Macroeconomics at several universities in Senegal and abroad (France, West and Central Africa). His educational publications are the Manuel de Macroéconomie (2018), Les Editions Diaspora Académie ; the Manuel d'économique politique (2012) with N. Tamkiro, Les Editions Diaspora Académie and the Manuel de statistique descriptive avec exercices corrigés et applications sur Excel (2016) with Dr. Modou Dieng, Presses Universitaires de Dakar (PUD). He was the Co-Coordinator for Senegal of the project on "Determinants of business performance in Francophone sub-Saharan Africa: Case of Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal," funded by IDRC for two years (2013-2015). He was an expert at the National Research Agency (ANR) – France, in 2010. He was the Co-Coordinator for Senegal of the NETRIS project on international migration, Senegal, Cameroon, South Africa, and Tobago, funded by the United Nations University, College of Europe, in 2010-2011. He is the Coordinator for Senegal of the Managlobal project "Impact of national cultures on corporate governance," RISE, European Union, with several European and African universities, ongoing, 2019-2023. He is the Coordinator for Senegal of the project "Impacts of public policies related to the covid-19 pandemic on the informal sector, women, and youth: cases of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal," funded by IDRC, 2020-2022. He is the co-Coordinator for Senegal of the project "Behind The Scenes," funded by MasterCard Foundation, ongoing, 2023-2025. His research mainly focuses on the economic performance of businesses, migration and development, innovation, and economic growth.
