Previous positions

From 2015 to 2016 he was the economic advisor to Emmanuel Macron, Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs and during the presidential campaign. He was previously Director of the Economics Department at Sciences Po (2008-2013) and has also been a professor at the Paris School of Economics (2000-2008) and at the Graduate Institute in Geneva. He was an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (2001-2002).

He was co-editor of the journal Economic Policy from 2006 to 2011 and a consultant at the Banque de France. A junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France, he was awarded the title of Best Young French Economist in 2002 by the Cercle des économistes.

Main areas of expertise and publications

His research work on international macroeconomics and finance, international trade and economic geography has been published in international scientific journals such as the American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies or Journal of International Economics, American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Regional Science and Urban Economics. He has co-authored several books including Economic Geography and Public Policy (2003, Princeton University Press) and The economics of Clusters? Lessons fron the French Experience (2010, Oxford University Press).

Education

He is a graduate of Sciences Po, Paris, the University of Paris-Dauphine and holds a PhD in economics from Georgetown University, Washington DC.
