Bio


Christel Bories is Eramet’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 2017. A global mining and metallurgical group, Eramet is a key player in the extraction and valorisation of metals (manganese, nickel, mineral sands, lithium) that are essential to the energy transition and building a more sustainable world. Having spent 30 years in top management positions within the industry, Christel Bories has developed strong expertise in leading business transformations and executing strategies in complex international industrial environments. Christel Bories is also an active advocate of a more responsible and sustainable mining and metals industry and of the strategic role that the sector holds within our economic activity and as a driver of innovation. She is Chairman of the French Mining and Metallurgy Sector Committee and a member of the Board of “France Industrie” and of the Executive Committee of the National Industry Council (CNI). Before joining Eramet, Christel Bories was the Deputy CEO of Ipsen (2013-2016), a global biopharmaceutical company focused on transformative medicines in oncology, rare disease and neuroscience. Prior to this, she served as CEO of Constellium, a global aluminium business that was divested from Rio Tinto in 2011. From 2007 to 2010, she served as President and CEO of Engineered Products for Rio Tinto following its acquisition of Alcan. At Alcan, Christel Bories was President and CEO of Engineered Products (2006-2007), President and CEO of Alcan Packaging (2003-2006) and a member of the Executive Committee. Earlier, she spent four years at Pechiney where she was Executive Vice President of Strategy and Management Control (1995-1999), Executive VP of the Packaging division (1999-2003) and a member of the Executive Committee. At the beginning of her career, Christel Bories was a strategy consultant for Booz Allen & Hamilton and then for Corporate Value Associates (1986-1993). Christel Bories is a non-executive Director of Legrand SA (CAC40) and a former board member of Natixis (2011-2014) and Smurfit Kappa Group (2012-2020). She is a graduate of the HEC business school in France.
