Achieving full employment

Session 6 Amphi 2 July 8, 2022 15:45 - 16:45

Overview

Unemployment is falling and making us dream of full employment, while rising inflation is limiting the scope for expansionary policies. The labour market is changing. On the one hand, the objectives of sustainable development value local production and environmentally friendly companies. On the other hand, the Covid-19 pandemic has slowed down international trade and boosted telework, giving it a new scope. It is estimated that around 30% of future jobs will be done, at least in part, at home, which will revolutionise the organisation of work and the work-life balance, but risks increasing inequalities, as some will not have access to it. At the dawn of all these changes, can we expect the target of full employment and how can we measure it? What lessons can be learned from the 35-hour workweek reform or from the measures to reduce social charges? What strategies should be implemented?
