Feeding people

Session 42 Amphi 2 July 10, 2022 11:15 - 12:15

Overview

Feeding the population in quantity and quality is a key factor in development throughout the world. “Feeding the world’s populations” sets out the challenges of increasing agricultural production to meet the needs of a growing population, but also the challenges of improving and structuring the agricultural and agri-food sectors, in line with the needs and expectations of consumers, to improve the food sovereignty of each country. Demographic changes, by their very heterogeneous character according to the different regions of the world, pose many challenges including that of feeding populations. How can we feed all the people on the planet quantitatively and qualitatively today and tomorrow? Moreover, the current world political situation, with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, reveals the problem of the globalization of markets and the dependence of certain geographical areas of the planet for their food. So, how to feed people in a world where the population is growing and facing climate change?
